Heavy Rain Alert in Uttarakhand; Char Dham Yatra Was Temporarily Suspended

Brocom News Network | Dehradun

Heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of Uttarakhand on Monday, prompting authorities to temporarily suspend the Char Dham Yatra due to safety concerns. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alerts for multiple districts, including Dehradun, Bageshwar, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, and Nainital.

Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides, road blockages, and rising river levels across the hill state. According to officials, nearly 100 roads have been affected, while a portion of the Mussoorie–Dehradun road has subsided due to the ongoing monsoon. Disaster response teams remain on high alert, and residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from rivers and landslide-prone areas.

The state government has appealed to pilgrims and tourists to follow official advisories and monitor weather updates before planning their journeys. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety and restore normal transportation as weather conditions improve.
